In life, there seems to be the right time to do just about anything; that perfect gap in the calendar, whether it be a whole month or a mere day, where a task eases up by the tri-fold. Similar to a sale, these perfectly timed period come and go quickly, so you need to be anticipate their coming to take full advantage.
Take, moving, for example. You may have done all the obvious steps in planning your move, but had you thought about when the BEST TIME to move is? And not, I am not talking about the best time pertaining to your daily schedule. No, I am talking about in the grand scheme of things. When is it best to move? When is that moving sweet spot on the calendar?
Well, lets look at this on a macro level, and then get more and more detailed.
Consider:
A. The time of year: As would make logical sense, more people tend to move in the summer over the winter. Why? Because they do not want to schlep all of their belongings from one location to another in the driving snow (at least if youre in the Midwest). However, due to this, moving in the summer is more expensive than moving in the winter. So if weather does not bother you, take advantage of this lower price.
B. The time of the month: Most leases start at the first of a month, meaning that moving during the LAST week of a month or the FIRST week of a month will be more expensive than mid-month.
C. The time of the week: Again, no surprisingly, weekends are a popular time for moving to occur, making them more expensive. Another interesting thing to note; gas prices are cheapest mid-week, which may make a big difference to you if youre driving a good distance.
D. The time of the day: The cheapest time to move is during off-hours, being early morning or in the evening. Again, there are set-backs to moving during each of these windows, but if your budget is tight, you might not mind a bit of rush-hour traffic.
Food for thought if you are planning a move.
Have a great weekend friends!
P.S. Go Bears!
